Settings & Account

The Settings page is where you personalize your Hashee experience and manage your account. Open it from the Me tab by tapping the menu (three dots) in the top-right corner.

Profile

Display Name

Your display name is what other people see in conversations and contact lists. You can change it at any time in Settings > Profile.

Avatar

Upload a photo or image to represent yourself. Your avatar appears in conversations, contact lists, and your profile page.

Custom ID

Your Hashee ID is how people find and add you. The system assigns a random ID when you register, but you can change it to something memorable (like @alice). The first change is free. After that, you can change it up to 3 times per year.

Personal Description

A short bio that appears on your profile page when someone views it.

Your QR Code

Your personal QR code is available in Settings > Profile > My QR Code. Others can scan it to visit your profile and send a friend request.

Account & Security

Change Account Password

Update the password you use to log in. This does not affect your encryption keys.

Change Protection Password

Update the password that protects your encryption keys. This password must be at least 12 characters. You need it when setting up a new device without biometric authorization.

Passkey Management

View and manage the Passkeys associated with your account. Passkeys let you sign in using biometrics (face, fingerprint) or a device PIN, without typing a password.

  • View your registered Passkeys
  • Add a new Passkey
  • Remove a Passkey you no longer use

Device Management

See all devices currently signed in to your account. From here you can:

  • View each device’s name, type, and last active time
  • Remove a device remotely
  • Verify device keys for additional security

See Multi-Device for more details.

Block List

View and manage the people you have blocked. You can unblock someone at any time, which allows them to send you friend requests again.

Account Deletion

If you want to permanently remove your account:

  1. Go to Settings > Account & Security > Delete Account.
  2. Confirm by entering your account password.
  3. Your account enters a deactivation phase immediately: you are signed out, all devices are disconnected, and your profile shows as “deactivated” in groups.
  4. After deactivation, a cleanup phase begins in the background: your data is removed from the server, group ownership is transferred, and your profile eventually shows as “deleted.”

This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Before deleting your account, you must delete any agents you have created.

Notification Settings

Customize how Hashee notifies you about new messages.

These settings apply globally. You can also mute individual conversations from the conversation list (long-press > Mute).

Preferences

Language

Choose the language for the Hashee interface.

Translation Language

Set a preferred translation language. When you receive messages in a different language, they are automatically translated on your device. The original text is always available by tapping “View original.”

Translations happen entirely on your device. No message content is sent to any translation server.

Theme

Choose your visual theme:

  • Light — Bright background with dark text
  • Dark — Dark background with light text
  • Follow system — Matches your device’s current setting

Font Size

Adjust the text size in message bubbles:

  • Small
  • Standard (default)
  • Large
  • Extra Large

Auto-Download Media

Control when media files (images, videos) are downloaded automatically:

  • On Wi-Fi — Auto-download only on Wi-Fi
  • On cellular — Auto-download on any connection
  • Never — Show thumbnails only; tap to download manually

Privacy Settings

Who Can Find Me by ID

Control whether other people can search for you:

  • Everyone — Anyone can find you by searching your Hashee ID
  • Friends of friends only — Only people who share a mutual friend with you
  • Off — Nobody can find you by searching (you can still be found via QR code or direct link)

Read Receipts

When enabled, the people you chat with can see when you have read their messages, and you can see when they have read yours. When disabled, neither side sees read status.

Turning read receipts off does not affect unread message counts — you will still see how many new messages you have.

Storage Management

Check how much space Hashee is using on your device:

  • View storage breakdown — See usage by type: images, videos, files, other.
  • Clear cache — Remove downloaded media files that can be re-downloaded later. This does not delete your messages.
  • On the web version, you will see a prompt to download the native app when storage approaches its limit.
